Temper Temper, 2021
G.H. White & Co Ltd/EON works was situated on Earl Street in the Cultural Industries Quarter of Sheffield. The former heat treatment works served Sheffield's metals industry, in particular the cutlery trade. It opened in 1939 and G.H. White was first incorporated in 1941.
As a subtle nod to the site and its industrial past, I developed an installation of backlit coloured glass panels that reference a traditional steel tempering guide. The installation is visible during daylight and twilight and provides a colourful and recognisable landmark for Sheffield.
